We report our successful formulation of the time-dependent optimized coupled-cluster method (TD-OCC) for ab initio simulations of multielectron dynamics in an intense laser field. The TD-OCC method is a gauge-invariant, polynomial cost-scaling, and size-extensive alternative to the time-dependent multiconfigurtartion self-consistent-field method. In this contribution, we briefly introduce the theoretical background and report its first application to intense-laser driven correlated electron dynamics in atoms and molecules.
