△ [21a-224B-1] Development of time-of-flight detector for studying on superheavy nuclei III
Keywords:TOF detector
We have been studying on new superheavy elements beyond atomic number 118 using a gas-filled recoil ion separator (GARIS-2) and a focal plane detection system. The focal plane detection system consists of a time-of-flight (TOF) detector and a silicon semiconductor detector box (Si box). The TOF detector is used for two purposes. One is to measure the time-of-flight of the evaporation residue (ER) into the Si box to obtain the information on the mass numbers of ERs. The other is to distinguish decay signals in Si box used in anti-coincidence mode. One of the important characteristics of the TOF detector is the detection efficiency for charged particles passing through the TOF detector. Therefore, we focused on improving the detection efficiency of the TOF detector. Recently, the beam experiment synthesizing Fr was conducted in order to study about improvement of detection efficiency of the TOF detector. In this report, we will report the result of the beam experiment.
