Dimming materials, which are capable to control transmittance of light, have attracted much attention for optical applications. To achieve such applications, nonlinear optical effect of liquid crystals doped with dye molecules controls transmittance depending on light intensity. So far linearly polarized light has been used to induce such a nonlinear optical effect of liquid crystals, which strictly constraints the applicable situation of the systems. In this study, to induce molecular reorientation by various polarized lights, we investigated photoresponsive behavior of polymer-stabilized dye-doped liquid crystals by circularly polarized light irradiation.
