[21a-PA2-24] Two-Dimensional Molecular Ordering Generated by Photopolymerization with Unpolarized Light
Keywords:Photopolymerization, Molecular Alignment, Photoalignment
The control of molecular alignment and structural pattern in soft material is essential for developing high-performance optical materials. Photoalignment process is known as the practical method to induce molecular alignment. However, this process requires the irradiation with polarized light and photoresponsive dye molecules, and has a limit for the resolution of alignment patterns. Recently, we have proposed a novel method to align liquid crystals induced by photopolymerization with the spatial gradient of light intensity. In this study, we directly generated two-dimensional molecular alignment pattern in polymer films by dye-free photopolymerization process with unpolarized light.
