Polyrotaxanes are supramolecules in which an axis polymer penetrates a large number of ring molecules and the ends are blocked with bulky molecules. It was found that high inclusion ratio polyrotaxane took stretched rod-like conformation using small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) and dynamic light scattering (DLS). In this research, we compared surface of a thin film of a series of polyrotaxane with various inclusion ratio on HOPG. It was found thata polyrotaxane with high inclusion ratio showed an aligned periodicmorphology with a distance of 6 nm. It was also found that solution concentration needed to be above 0.5×10-4wt% to form line morphologies.
