The semishell is the nanostructure composed of the nanosphere partially covered by the metal shell. It was experimentally confirmed that the Al semishell-MIM nanostructure, which semishells with Al shells are combined with MIM (Metal-Insulator-Metal) nanostructure, show broadband light absorption of over 60% in the wavelength range from visible to near-infrared. The FEM analysis revealed that the broadband absorption by this nanostructure is attributed to the plasmon resonances of the Al semishells and film, which was made when Al semishells were fabricated on the substrate.
