メタ原子による電磁場の変調過程の観測のため、ナノスケールプラズモンキャビティを配置した金属表面における伝搬型表面プラズモン波の伝搬現象を、時間分解顕微鏡法によりフェムト秒の時間分解能で動的に可視化した。ナノキャビティのコヒーレントな電磁気的応答との相互作用によってプラズモン波が受ける位相変調について、実験的な評価とLorentz振動子を用いたモデル計算による解析を行った。
