[17p-D101-4] Recent Progress of Crystalline Silicon Solar Cell Technologies
Keywords:crystalline silicon, solar cells
Crystalline silicon solar cell technologies are approaching the major turning point. Silicon hetero junction (SHJ) realizes the high voltage and the high conversion efficiency over 25% by adopting the amorphous Si and crystal Si hetero-junction. Interdigitated back contact (IBC) cell increases the photo-generated current density because of no metal lines at the front surface, which solving the shadow loss problem. IBC-SHJ solar cell is the combination of SHJ and IBC. This has realized the extremely high conversion efficiency over 26%. From the view point of cell structure, the carrier-selective contact (CSCs) cells are expected to realize the higher conversion efficiency crystalline Si solar cell with lower fabrication cost. Because of the high efficiency and low cost, the application filed of solar cells has been expanding. As environment-friendly cars, motor companies have been developing hybrid vehicles (HV) and electric vehicles (EV). The vehicles installed with solar modules would be a candidate for future cars. The solar cells can efficiently decompose H2O and generate H2 with relatively low cost. They will solve the instability problem of renewable energies. In this talk, we will discuss the future direction of crystalline silicon solar cells.
