Misasa Onsen of Tottori is famous as a radon hot spring.
However, there is Gankutsu-no-yu which has a high content of thoron (220Rn) at the Ohashi inn.
We paid attention to the half-life of thoron, which is 1/6000 of the half-life of radon (222Rn), and we developed a technique to measure half-life of 212 Pb which is daughter nuclide of tron.
We filtered new water from the source through vermiculite and it adsorbed thoron and radon.
After heating the vermiculite with a microwave oven, we measured the decrement over time of the gamma-ray spectrum intensity.
