Compact and low cost devices enabled by Si waveguide technology are expected to be used in many applications in the future. In the optical coherent communication, a 90o hybrid optical circuit is used at the receiver. Conventionally it was composed of 2x2 and 1x2 MMI couplers connected by single mode waveguides. In this report we propose a simple device configuration using only MMI couplers also for the interconnection.
