[18p-C103-1] Prevention of catheter infection by controlling adhesiveness between materials and tissue interface

Tetsushi Taguchi1 (1.Biomaterials Field, RCFM, NIMS)

Keywords:catheter, tissue adhesive, biocompatible

Bond strength and ability to prevent catheter infection were evaluated using a flocked silicone sheet (AmTiO2NP-F) and a biocompatible tissue adhesive. The bonding was stronger between a collagen-based casing and AmTiO2NP-F than an unmodified silicone sheet or AmTiO2NP-S. Tissue reaction was mild after subcutaneous implantation of AmTiO2NP-F bonded with a biocompatible adhesive, with the adhesive being degraded within 7 days, while catheter infection was completely prevented.
