A bismuth chalcohalide BiSI has been recently attracting attention as a photovoltaic material due to its narrow bandgap (~1.5 eV) and environmental compatibility. In this study, we developed a new vapor reaction (VR) method for the fabrication of BiSI thin film, which enables uniform coating for solid state solar cells. We fabricated n-BiSI/p-CuSCN solar cells using the VR method or conventional electrophoresis (EPD) method of BiSI particles. The cells prepared via the VR method showed obvious photoelectric effect (the power conversion efficiency 0.014%), while the ones prepared via the EPD method showed no photovoltaic effect probably due to the lower efficiency of carrier migration.
