[18p-P4-2] Syntheses and properties of narrow-bandgap polymers (18) Synthesis of a narrow bandgap polymer for application to organic thin film solar cell
Keywords:conjugated polymer, narrow bandgap polymer
One of the means for increasing the efficiency of organic thin film solar cells is the expansion of the conversion wavelength. Therefore, we are planning to apply the narrow band gap polymer studied in our laboratory for increasing the efficiency. In our laboratory, water-soluble narrow bandgap polymer which is prepared by addition-condensation of pyrrole and aldehyde have been studied. This polymer is soluble in various solvents such as DMF, methanol, chlorobenzene and water by altering the aldehyde and chemical modification is also possible by having functional groups. This conjugated polymer has light absorption of 1000 nm or more. It may be applied to new organic thin film solar cells that can convert long wavelength region. In this paper, we synthesized a Pyr-HOB conjugated polymer from pyrrole(Pyr) and 4-hexyloxybenzaldehyde(HOB) and confirmed absorption up to long wavelength region from absorption spectrum measurement. Moreover, it confirmed from CV measurement that it has an appropriate energy level. From these results, we think that conjugated polymers synthesized this time can be applied to organic thin film solar cells, we have fabricated organic thin film solar cells with structure ITO/PEDOT:PSS/narrow bandgap polymer:PCBM/Al. I-V measurement and EQE measurement of the fabricated organic thin film solar cell were carried out and compared with the standard element P3HT: PCBM type organic thin-film solar cell. As a result, conversion of long wavelength region up to around 1000 nm was confirmed.
