The time-dependent configuration interaction singles (TDCIS) method is one of the useful computational methods to describe electron dynamics in atoms and molecules interacting with an intense laser field. The TDCIS method has a number of advantages such as a low computational cost and the ease of analysing simulation results; however it suffers from a serious drawback of not being gauge invariant. This work introduces a gauge-invariant reformulation of the TDCIS method.
