For the application of NV centers in diamond to nanoscale NMR, establishing a method to stabilize the negative charge state of shallow NV centers has become an issue. We have already formed nitrogen-terminated surface by nitrogen radical exposure, and demonstrated that the negative charge state of the shallow NV centers stabilizes and that the coherence time T2 is comparable to T2 under oxygen termination. In this research, we successfully detected 1H nuclear spin signal on the substrate surface using a shallow NV center in the nitrogen-terminated diamond.
