Keywords:radioactive carbon isotope(C14), cavity ring-down spectroscopy, pharmacokinetic study

To evaluate the circulatory dynamics of pharmaceutical products in the human body by their trace radiocarbon isotope(14C) labeling, we have developed a new method and its prototype system featuring high sensitivity, rapid measurement, compact size and low cost, which is based on cavity ring-down spectroscopy combined with a fiber laser based mid-infrared frequency comb.
In this presentation, an outline of the prototype system developed is given together with the overview of the research project, as an introduction of the series presentations on the results accomplished so far.
