△ [19p-A304-9] Performance of Neutron Spectrometer for Exploration of Near-Earth Asteroids
Keywords:neutron spectrometer, near earth asteriods, hydrogen
In Japan, the exploration of Near-Earth Asteroids (NEAs) is expected by microsatellite. Measurements of neutron emitted from asteroid surface give constraints to their hydrogen abundance and bulk compositions. In this study, we assessed a performance of neutron spectrometer for future NEAs explorations which consists of two type scintillators, 1) lithium glass scintillator which detects thermal neutron and 2) boron loaded plastic scintillator which detects epithermal and fast neutron separately.
