[19p-A404-19] Blueshifting of Whispering-Gallery-Mode lasing from alloyed ZnO spheres.

Zinc oxide (ZnO) , a Ⅱ-Ⅵ semiconductor, has a wide band gap (3.37 eV) and a large excition binding energy (60 meV). We have succeeded in fabricating ZnO microspheres by laser ablation method in air, and achieved UV whispering-gallery-mode (WGM) lasing from the microspheres. On the other hand, Mg is one of the promising materials because of having ability to modulate band gap energy of ZnO microstructures by forming mixed crystal. In this study, we report on fabrication of ZnMgO microspheres by ablating in air
