[19p-B203-16] Efficient Optical Trapping of Gold Nanoparticles and Quantum Dots at Hexane-water Interfaces
Keywords:Photon force, Nanoparticles, Fluorescence microspectroscopy
Nanoparticles dispersed in an aqueous solution are optically trapped at the focal point of a laser beam. This trapping behavior is caused by photon force, which strongly depends on the dielectric constant of the surrounding medium. In the present study, we demonstrated that optical trapping of quantum dots and octahedral gold nanocrystals at the water/hexane interface. Dark-field microscopy was a powerful tool to observe the trapping behaviors of the gold nanoparticles, while fluorescence microscopy was used for the observations of the quantum dots.
