[19p-B203-19] Proposed Selective Optical Transport of Nanoparticle
Keywords:optical manipulation, selective transport
Optical manipulation is a technique for mechanically manipulating minute substances by using radiation force from laser beams. When we manipulate a nanoparticle, the radiation force is very weak but it can be enhanced by using the laser beam that is resonant with the electronic levels of nanoparticles. Actually, the selective transport of nanoparticles by resonant light has been demonstrated experimentally. However, when the contribution of the background dielectric constant of the particle in which the resonant centers are doped is much larger than that of the centers, it is difficult to sort the particles by the resonant effect. In this study, we show that the selective manipulation of the particles is possible even in such cases by canceling the contribution of background using counter-propagating laser beams.
