The management of radiographic inspection or personal exposure to radiation is a pressing global concern. In this study, a polystyrene (PS)-based chromic dosimeter consisting of a halochromic dye, 2-(Phenylamino)-6-(dipentylamino)-3-methylspiro[9H-xanthene-9,3'-phthalide] (Black305), and a photostimulable phosphor, YAP:Ce, were developed for the detection of X-ray exposure doses. The colors of the chromic dosimeter were changed from yellow to black with ultraviolet light irradiation and X-ray exposure. We measured the chromic characteristics with ultraviolet light and X-ray sensitivity.
