Two-dimensional materials, such as graphene, are predicted to have a strong response to vertically induced electric and magnetic fields. The longitudinal fields generated at the focus of cylindrical vector beams and first-order Hermite-Gauss (HG) beams may allow for such material control on ultrafast time scales. Here, we demonstrate a method to convert broadband linear-polarized THz beams to HG beams, and succeed in creating strong longitudinal fields.
