[20a-P1-11] Synthesis of longer-chain alkane by highly intense laser irradiation

It is known that highly intense laser irradiation to materials induces ablation and Coulomb explosion, resulting in the creation of new molecules which differ from the target material. In this study, molecules synthesized by the intense laser irradiation of hexane, one of alkanes, were analyzed by mass spectroscopy. Alkanes with larger number of carbon atoms and their isomers with methyl or ethyl group were identified.
