It is necessary for improvement in abilities of organic semiconductor devices to clarify processes of crystal growth of organic thin films. 2-Decyl-7-phenyl-[1]benzothieno[3,2-b][1]benzothiophene (Ph-BTBT-10) is a superior liquid crystalline organic semiconductor, which has a very high hole mobility. It is known that Ph-BTBT-10 exhibits phase transitions from crystal phase to smectic E (SmE) after thermal annealing at 143ºC. In this stydy, we investigated the thin film growth process during vacuum depositon and temperature dependence of the thin-film structures with a temperature control stage of Ph-BTBT-10 by in-situ real-time two-dimensional grazing incidence X-ray diffraction (2D-GIXD) measurements at SPring-8.
