We endeavored to improve the power factor (PF) by inserting filter phases in an n-type Bi2Te3 bulk material. Ga2Te3 was selected as the filter phase by the first-principles calculations. We synthesized Bi2Te3 containing Ga2Te3 precipitates by carefully controlling the sintering and annealing temperatures, which followed the liquid-quenching process. Homogeneously dispersed nanosized Ga2Te3 improved PF. The enhancement in PF originates in the energy filtering effect of nanosized Ga2Te3.
