Keywords:Kelvin probe method, liquid
In recent years, liquid devices such as liquid organic EL, dye-sensitized solar cells, and biosensors are widely known and actively studied. In order to clarify the operation mechanism of these devices and improve their performance, it is essential to evaluate device characteristics and electronic structure. In particular, the electrode work function is a basic parameter of the device, has been measured in the air and vacuum until now, but there are few studies in liquid. Therefore, we developed a measuring apparatus for Kelvin probe method that can be measured by immersing the electrode in liquid, measured work function of the electrode in various liquids. Although the relative permittivity of the liquid estimated from the Kelvin probe method and the displacement current measurement was different, there was a possibility that the position of the electrode was changed by characteristics of liquid. In this study, we have improved the apparatus to measure electrode work function in liquid while monitoring the electrode position.
