We fabricated and characterized zig-zag chains composed of metal nano-discs. The zig-zag chains showed photonic topologiccal edge states depending on incident polarization. Spectral measurements showed excitation of edge states and spectral responses were understood by an otical selection rule. Edge state excitation via a dipole located at the bulk position was also investigated by using simulations.
