[18p-E301-6] Development of High Performance Solar Cells, "From Space to Ground"

Tatsuya Takamoto1, Hiroyuki Juso1, Hiroshi Yamaguchi1, Hidetoshi Washio1 (1.Sharp)

Keywords:III-V compound, Multijunction solar cell

A multijunction solar cell composed of III-V compound epitaxial growth layers such as GaAs and InGaP has high conversion efficiency but is expensive, so the market is limited to special applications such as space use. In the future, expansion of the markets or applications by reduction of the cost will be an issue. High efficiency solar cells are required for applications where the installation area is constraint and plug-in is not easily accessible. We will describe the development status of solar cells with high performance for each application.
