Since an individual carbon nanotube (CNT) exhibits outstanding mechanical properties, CNTs provide a rich potential for the use of light-weight strong cables. We have demonstrated a new growth mechanism called a Floating-Bridge (FB) method, which is based on further elongation of growing CNTs under gas flow with high velocity. We have shown the synthesis of high-qulity CNTs produced by the FB method. In this presentatoin, we will report mechanical properties of FB-CNT yarns (diameter~50 μm), which is the bulk counterpart of our previous FB-CNTs.
