We had developed a correlating synthesis method for THz imaging with higher resolution and less fake images. Instead of traditional linear synthesizing methods, this method calculates the correlation between signals delayed by their propagation times. The efficiency of the method was verified by experiments with metal cylinders. In practical application, detection of metal targets behind dielectric material is expected, where the propagating path of the THz waves will be influenced by the dielectric. In this paper, we studied the effect of layered dielectric on the imaging result experimentally. A paper phenol substrate is employed, with five copper wirings as the target of THz imaging. The paper phenol is regarded as a single-layered dielectric, and the refraction path of THz wave is calculated with its thickness and relative dielectric constant. The results show that by taking the refraction into consideration, imaging result can be improved with less distortion.
