[19p-C213-12] [Young Scientist Presentation Award Speech] Investigation of thermal behavior and phase formation by TG-DSC analysis for the synthesis of BaFe2As2 polycrystalline superconductors

Shinnosuke Tokuta1,2, Akiyasu Yamamoto1,2 (1.TUAT, 2.JST-CREST)

Keywords:iron-based superconductors, Thermal analysis, TG-DSC

Thermal analysis was performed by thermogravimetry-differential scanning calorimetry (TG-DSC) on Ba-Fe-As and Ba-Fe-Co-As powders (metal mixture, mechanically alloyed powder, and polycrystalline powder). TG-DSC analysis revealed the formation temperatures and melting points of BaFe2As2 (Ba(Fe,Co)2As2) and impurities, such as FeAs and Fe2As. It was also suggested that heat treatment of mechanically alloyed powder is effective for decrease of sintering temperature and improvement of phase purity.
