We developed an automated optimization code that optimized the position of the holes comprising the photonic crystal nanocavity based on FEM simulation of the cavity mode. We optimized the single-cell (H1) slotted nanocavity and the code generated ultrahigh-Q nanocavity designs with optimizing up to 22 shift parameters (44 holes). According to the automatically generated designs, we fabracated H1 slotted nanocavities and we experimentally obtained ultrahigh Q factors.
