[19p-N302-4] Emergent Majorana fermions and non-Abelian anyons in a magnetic insulator
Keywords:magnetic insulator, quantum spin liquid
We have performed thermal Hall effect measurements on an insulating two-dimensional (2D) quantum magnet, RuCl3 with honeycomb lattice. We found that 2D thermal Hall conductance reaches a quantum plateau as a function of applied magnetic field. Surprisingly, the plateau attains a quantization value, which is exactly half of that in the quantum Hall effect in 2D electron system. This half-integer thermal Hall conductance is a direct signature of chiral edge currents of emergent Majorana fermions and non-Abelian anyons in the bulk.
