We studied the adsorption state of a copper phthalocyanine (CuPc) monomer on an Au (110)-(1x2) surface, including the effect of surface reconstruction, by scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). In addition, we studied the electric state of the CuPc monomer by scanning tunneling spectroscopy (STS). We found that the area below a CuPc [(1x2)] was filled with some gold adatoms to form (1x1) structure. We also found that the LUMO of CuPc approached the Fermi energy as the number of gold adatoms increased.
