[19p-PA5-3] Fabrication and Characterization of Large-Area Three-Dimensional Photonic Crystals by a Micro-Manipulation Method using an Optical Microscope
Keywords:Photonic Crystals
Three-dimensional photonic crystals (3D PC) have perfect photonic band gaps that prohibit light propagation in any direction, and are expected to be applied to 3D optical circuits and low threshold lasers. One of the high-quality 3D PC fabrication methods is the micro-manipulation method, but since it is performed under scanning electron microscope observation, there is a problem of deterioration of the internal light emitter due to the electron to be irradiated. Therefore, we developed a micro-manipulation method under optical microscopy and succeeded in producing 3D PC. However, the number of cycles in the plane was limited to about ten. In this study, we modified this method under optical microscope observation to produce a large-area 3D PC with 22 cycles in the in-plane direction and 2 cycles in the straight direction. From the transmission measurement, the suppression of the transmission of 1/10 or less was observed in the band gap as compared to the absence of the photonic crystal.
