In this work, we propose the design of a doubly-resonant SiC photonic crystal (PC) nanocavity. To obtain both a fundamental mode and a higher-order mode with twice the fundamental frequency, we used a one-dimensional (1D) PC nanobeam structure. The nanocavity is designed by modulating the lattice constants of the structure to obtain two resonant modes, where we adjusted the nanobeam thickness to match the frequency of the higher-order mode to twice the fundamental frequency. High quality factors of 1.2×107 and 2.1×103 for the fundamental and higher-order modes are obtained, respectively. Because of the double-resonance, a high second-harmonic generation efficiency of 2.4×104 %/W is expected for this nanocavity.
