The coordination of ions, such as Na +, K + and Ca 2+, to lipid bilayer membranes is the origin of the membrane potential, and also a factor directly affecting the physical properties and structure of the lipid bilayer membranes. The purpose of this research is to clarify the ions coordination to lipid membrane by examining the electronic state of lipid molecule by X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) measurement in aqueous solutions. We succeeded in measuring the component of a phospholipid in the O-K edge XAS spectrum at the range of 530-533 eV.
