[20p-E203-13] Passively Q-switched 2.9 µm Er:YAP laser using graphene saturable absorber

We tried to demonstrate passively Q-switched 2.92 µm Er:YAP laser using graphene saturable absorber (SA). The slope efficiency of 13% and maximum average output power of 503 W were obtained. Also, stable Q-switched pulse operation was confirmed by temporal waveform. Then, the highest repetition rate and shortest pulse duration were 114 kHz and 460 ns, respectively. Also, the highest pulse energy of 5.1 µJ and peak power of 10 W were obtained with changing pump power. Therefore, this is the first demonstration of the passively Q-switched Er:YAP laser using graphene SA.
