We develop a wavelength-tunable optical parametric amplifier (OPA) from 2700 to 3800 nm seeded with carrier-envelope phase stabilized mid-infrared pulses produced by intra-pulse difference frequency generation. The output pulses of a Yb:KGW CPA laser are spectrally broadened in two-stage multiple plate pulse compression from 800 to 1250 nm, which are compressed down to a sub-two-cycle duration of 6.5 fs. CEP-stabilized mid-infrared pulses are produced in intra-pulse difference frequency generation of the spectrally broaden pulses around 1030 nm and parametrically amplified in KTA crystals. The output energy and temporal duration of the OPA output pulses range from 31 to 56 microjoule and from 102 to 203 fs, respectively. The root mean square value of their carrier-envelope phase errors is measured to be 101 mrad.
