Here we present the experimental observation of the effect of periodic metal stripe on the spin wave (SW) propagation behavior in one dimensional magnonic crystal of yittrium iron garnet (YIG). Propagating magnetostatic surface spin wave (MSSW) was excited and detected by metallic co-planner wave guide (CPW) and vector network analyzer (VNA). Detected SW signal shows that insertion of metallic stipe can inhibit the higher frequency propagation mode, thus modulate the spin wave. This structure can be used for removing undesired high frequency signal from propagation as high frequency SW filter.
