[20p-E319-1] Production of a hyperpolarized ortho-H2 beam and its spin polarization control

Ortho-H2 has a magnetic moment derived from the nuclear spin of proton. By combining a supersonic H2 beam with a magnetic hexapole, we have succeeded in producing a hyperpolarized ortho-H2 beam. Its spin polarization analysis, spin inversion, and time-of-flight analysis will be presented. We will discuss the possibility for conducting H2 adsorption/scattering experiment in which nuclear rotation and spin states of H2 are well defined.
