Keywords:NIR molecular sensing, molecular vibration, process monitoring

We investigated an applicability of NIR molecular sensing technique by using molecular vibrations of an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) in order to monitor a pseudo-polymorphism conversion during a pharmaceutical wet granulation process. We found characteristic molecular vibrations derived from a hydration or dehydration and an anhydridization or amorhphization which closely related with an important physico-chemical property such as a dissolution of an API in pharmaceutical tablets.
From the results, we showed that a real-time process monitoring technique about pseudo-polymorphism conversion of an API during a heating or in vacuum at room temperature drying condition using NIR molecular vibrations are applicable.
