Keywords:copper (I) bromide, luminescent mechanochromism

[Cu2Br2(DIB)2(PPh2)2]n, obtained by the reaction of [Cu4Br4(PPh3)4] and 1,4-diisocyanobenzene (DIB) revealed that the complex is polymer or oligomer having planar {Cu2Br2} core. The resulting complex showed the emission from bluish green to yellow by mechanical stimuli, based on this property, a film containing [Cu2Br2(DIB)2(PPh2)2]n was formed by a cast method using polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) as a binder. The rubbed part of the film shows yellow luminescence, and the other part shows bluish green luminescence, and the film after grinding exhibited that the yellow emission returned to bluish green emission due to treated with an organic solvent and dried, or by heating at 100 °C for 30 h. It was found that the reversible luminescent mechanochromism could occur even in the film using PMMA.
