By Ar+ ion bombardment on the Pd (111) single crystal surface, Ar atoms are aggregated in the subsurface, whereby a surface with a mound-like structure of nanometer order can be formed. This surface exhibits different catalytic activity than the flat Pd (111) surface. In this study, temperature-programmed desorption (TPD) spectra of the stored Ar atoms were measured with respect to the annealing time at 550 K in order to investigate the thermal stability of the surface nanostructures at elevated temperatures. As a result, it was revealed that the TPD peak intensity of the stored Ar atom is sufficiently maintained even at least after 10 hours.
