[21a-E303-9] Applied research using AMS system at Yamagata University
Keywords:accelerator mass spectrometry
In 2010, Yamagata University (YU) installed an accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS) system. The applied researches at YU-AMS are shown below; 1) The detailed mechanism of the weakening in solar activity is unknown, and the prediction of solar activity is ambiguous. In this study, we investigate the transitions of solar cycle length before the onset of the Spoerer Minimum.; 2) Atmospheric radiocarbon (14C) levels increased from 1955 to 1963 due to atmospheric nuclear weapon test. Since then they have been decreasing to natural 14C levels. As 14C accumulates in human tooth enamel while it is being formed, it can be used to estimate birth year of unidentified bodies. We have established a pretreatment method of samples using by a pulverizer.; 3) We performed the 14C measurements using a 14C-labeled compound of 14C-glucose for pharmacological and medical applications, In this conference, the applied researches with YU-AMS are presented.
