In order to develop the large area and high-quality graphene with the use of the process based on CVD (chemical vapors deposition), we attempt a systematical study on the growth of graphene/graphite from amorphous carbon thin film as a solid source. Previously Cu, Ni foils, which are typical ones for the conventional CVD-growth, were used as a substrate. Then, we succeeded in growing graphite on the Ni although did not obtain graphene/graphite on the Cu. We thought these results caused by the solid solubility. In this study, thus, we used Fe foil with high carbon solubility same as Ni foil, on which amorphous carbon was deposited. Then, the very small amount of graphite has formed on Fe foil. In addition, because we thought that Fe Oxides on the surface disturb the growth, we used Fe thin film formed on Si substrate to reduce Iron oxide. We found most of the area on the surface was covered by graphite and the reduction of the amount of Fe oxides.
