[21p-B12-5] Outdoor Performance Measurements of Bifacial Si Heterojunction Solar Cells

Keywords:photovoltaics, heterojunction solar cells, bifacial gain

Bifacial solar cells are attractive for gaining the output powers with the minimal increase of their cost and installation space in comparison to the conventional mono-facial cells. We have measured the outdoor performance of bifacial silicon heterojunction PV modules with the variation of their tilt angles on 0.21 albedo ground and evaluated their bifacial gains between Nov. 27, 2018 and Feb. 10, 2019. As a result, 20% or larger daily gains were obtained for any tilt angles and weathers. Especially for vertically installed modules, the gain was enhanced with increasing the ratio of scattered solar irradiance and reached over 80% on rainy days.
