[21p-E205-7] Ultralow-loss Branch Waveguide Using Valley Photonic Crystals

We develop branch waveguides using topological valley kink states at the domain wall of silicon valley photonic crystals. The work is toward signal distribution and power combining applications in photonic or terahertz integrated circuits. Electromagnetic wave simulations successfully demonstrate the signal distribution into two ports using the valley photonic crystal circuit. The excess loss in a branch waveguide is as small as 0.5 dB, which is much smaller than that of the conventional photonic crystal waveguide (1.7 dB), and the bandwidth is also improved.
