Keywords:photo-induced magnetization dynamics

It is important to capture the photo-induced magnetizatoin dynamics directly with pump-probe time-resolved measurements in order to understand photo-induced magnetization dynamics and manipulate spin with light. We performed time-resolved magneto-optical Kerr effect measurement at absorption edges using x-ray free electron laser SACLA and obtained the photo-induced magnetization dynamics of ferromagnetic Co/Pt multilayer thin films. We found a clear element dependence of demagnetization time scales.
