Supported lipid bilayer(SLBs) is a powerful tool for fabricating biosensors for studying membrane biophysics, and for studying the binding of drugs. A method called self-spreading method is used to form SLBs. A big advantage of the method is that the SLBs can be easily shape controlled on a patterned substrate such as photolithographed Si. However, to form a photolithographed Si complex technique and costly microfabrication facilities is required. Herein, we present a simple procedure uses the patterned polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS) as the support substrate for the self-spreading SLBs.
